King’s High School

The journey to 2020:
King’s High School in Warwick.

September 2020 sees the completion of ‘Project One Campus’ when King’s High School, Warwick, will move from its historic town site to brand-new, bespoke school buildings co-located with its Warwick Independent Schools Foundation counterparts, Warwick School and Warwick Prep School.

The creation of the new King’s High, designed by Nicholas Hare Architects, presents a rare chance to rethink the design of learning environments and Head Master, Richard Nicholson, is seizing the opportunity. Unusually, he has also decided to ensure the girls currently at King’s High, who will miss out on the new campus, still gain some benefit from this fresh approach to learning spaces by trialling some new ideas in the old building.

"The enhanced facilities have been extremely well received by both staff and students, who have embraced new approaches to learning, teaching and independent study.”

The sixth form study centre provides a choice of spaces in which to work independently or collaboratively as well as soft furnishings for social time.

"The designs and furniture by Spaceoasis transformed these spaces, and have been instrumental in developing ideas for our new school.”

As well as books, the library features fixed ITC and mobile LearningSurface® Petal tables with upholstered stools to facilitate a range of learning styles. Pods and soft furnishings provide students with a choice in how and where to work.

Liberated learning

These spaces feature pods and booths with upholstered seating for independent and collaborative study, LearningSurface® dry wipe Bite tables with individual chairs, a range of soft seating and banks of fixed ICT touchdowns. The spaces provide a choice of working styles so the girls can choose whether to study alone or together in small groups, while dry-wipe surfaces introduce a new, more liberated style of working and thinking.
